Gurhan is a self-taught Turkish jewelry designer, who when in his 40s left behind his disco in Istanbul to pursue a career as a jewelry designer. After studying the ancient techniques of working in 24kt pure gold he created a line of his own and was among the first designers to bring a line of 24kt gold jewelry to this country. Using these proprietary techniques he was able to produce a line of wearable, durable, and exceptionally beautiful 24kt gold jewelry. His workshops are still in Istanbul but he continues to work on new designs at his atelier in NYC. He is considered a pioneer for developing new methods of working in 24kt pure gold.
